Human passions are often difficult to understand. There are loves that remain stuck between heaven and hell, due to the unpredictability of decisions and the fear of facing the unknown, and relationships that continue to damage themselves, falling into habit and losing value.
Grazia and Carlo are lovers. In a frozen time, made of encounters, waits, letters and phone calls, they lose themselves in their passion.
We follow the two protagonists’ love affairs, grasping the instincts that drive them through the choices they make. Many lives intersect
in the novel, not only mortals; angels and demons observe the evolution of events closely, because ‘Love comes from feelings and not
from attraction alone: lovers see in each other something unique, new, unrepeatable, a fragment of solid ground in a collapsing world.
But after the excitement of passion, born in the illusion of physical appearance, reality materialises when the lovers see each other for
what they really are, in the daily routine of existence. This is the ultimate test that defines the actual solidity of feelings, and whether there is a real reason to stay together.’
Human passions are often difficult to understand. There are loves that remain stuck between heaven and hell, due to the unpredictability of decisions and the fear of facing the unknown, and relationships that continue to damage themselves, falling into habit and losing value. Grazia has experienced it all, the fire of passion, the moments of anger, the suffering endured and inflicted, and also the deadly boredom of endless love skirmishes. She sacrificed her marriage for one passion and one man, justifying her failings and defending him in every possible way. But when the Angel of Death comes visit her one night, and she has to make a final choice, she needs to relive her past like a movie to see things clearly, to understand the value of all her choices, and to feel for the first time proud of every experience that has strengthened her.
